Under the name of Arts of Movement, Dance in Catalonia (1916_2014) Arts Santa Mònica presents the most complete exhibition ever on the subject of dance in Catalonia, and a major book, a compendium of research and a wide-ranging analytical and creative survey, and an open website that together combine historical review, in the present and ongoing, in intersection and in community, of what is the living body on stage, presential and ephemeral.

With a view to ensuring the future of the genealogical map and give complementarity, continuity and openness, we have created an interactive multimedia archive,, open to the community and to the younger generations. The great contribution of Xavier Rovira and his team in conceptualizing the project —exhibition, architecture and graphics— guarantees the knowledge, renewal, collaboration and international scope of the project within liquidDocs.

The effort, enthusiasm and generosity with which the dance community has responded to the initiative have been vital to this first major appreciation, sowing seeds for future generations of artists, researchers and interested public who embrace contemporary dance as enjoyment and knowledge, culture and art. We acknowledge with gratitude the individuals, dance associations and companies, and the Mercat de les Flors, the Institut del Teatre, the Institut Ramon Llull and the Institut d’Empreses Culturals all of whom have contributed to the complex mosaic and the ambitious challenge we have set ourselves with Arts of Movement.
